Socializing at Dreamforce ’13

Social and Mobile Bring Customers to the Fore

The Dreamforce conference this week showcased a host of technologies that are disrupting legacy players and processes in almost every industry.  It was exciting to see social and mobile at the forefront of what Salesforce is calling the Internet of Customers.  Salesforce customers and partners are extremely customer focused in their businesses, making this an exciting time to be in marketing and technology.

Tech trends and companies catalyzing customer centricity include:

  • Enhancing insights into customers and prospects with the help of external data from social, company and executive info, etc. (Mintigo)
  • Analyzing the sales process using sentiment analysis and sales activity tracking for better forecasting (Lattice)
  • Automating sales playbooks and other forms of  enablement (Qvidian)
  • Customizing sales and marketing content on the fly with customer data (Seismic)
  • Boosting transparency via enterprise, sales, and marketing automation dashboards (Domo, Pardot, ExactTarget, Vocus)
  • Simplifying mobile data and app management (Anyware)

Women Leaders A Social & Tech Trend

The conference also featured another important social topic, the rise of women leaders in technology.  Marissa Mayer shared her leadership philosophies and approaches and Sheryl Sandberg made the case for companies and society being strengthened when barriers to women in leadership roles are cleared away.  Videos of their conversations with Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff are not yet available but stay tuned to the Dreamforce YouTube Channel where they will be posted.
